  • Design Stage
In the design stage, the customer communicates with the designer to determine the purpose, shape, size, pattern, text, color and other elements of the badge. Designers create preliminary designs for badges using computer-aided design (CAD) software or hand-drawing techniques. The design may need to be revised several times until the client is satisfied.
  • Mold Making
Once the design is confirmed, making the mold is one of the key steps in manufacturing the badge. First, choose a suitable mold material, usually silicone as it is highly flexible and wear-resistant. A sample of the designed badge is then placed in the mold, which is used to create the base of the mold. Then, mix the silicone and pour it into the mold, waiting for the silicone to solidify to form the concave and convex mold of the badge.
  • Raw Material Selection
Select appropriate metal materials based on design requirements and customer budget. Common ones include brass, zinc alloy, copper, aluminum, etc. Each material has its own unique properties, such as brass having a better texture and oxidation protection, while zinc alloys are relatively lightweight and easy to machine.
  • Stamping Or Casting
Use the prepared mold to stamp or cast the selected metal material into the basic shape of the badge. Stamping is to place a metal sheet in a mold and then apply high pressure through a stamping machine to punch out the metal sheet into the desired shape. Casting involves pouring molten metal into a mold and removing it after solidification to form a badge.
  • Cutting And Trimming
The finished badge needs to be cut and trimmed to remove excess metal and smooth the edges of the badge. This step can be accomplished by mechanical cutting, laser cutting or manual trimming.
  • Grinding And Polishing
The cut and trimmed badges need to be ground and polished to make their surface smooth and have a good luster. This step is usually accomplished using a grinding machine, polishing compound, or hand polishing.
  • Painting Or Printing
If the badge requires painting or printing of patterns or text, this step will be completed on the surface of the badge. Painted effects are usually achieved using special inks, paints or screen printing techniques.
  • Fixing Accessories
According to customer requirements, badges may require fixing accessories, such as back clips, pins or magnets. These attachments are usually welded, glued or screwed to the back of the badge.
  • Quality Inspection
The finished badges need to undergo strict quality inspection, including appearance, size and function. Once it passes inspection, the badge will be packed and ready to be shipped to the customer. Packaging is usually in boxes or bags.
