Badge Overview

A badge is a symbolic ornament, usually made of metal, plastic, or other materials, used to represent a person's or organization's identity, achievement, or affiliation. Badges have been widely used in military, government, academic, sports and business fields throughout history, and have their own unique meanings and uses in various social cultures.

Badge Accessories Usually Include The Following

Back Clip (Back Clip Badge)

A back clip is one of the common ways to attach a badge to clothing. It is usually made of metal or plastic and has the function of clamping and fixing the badge so that the badge can be easily fixed on the pocket or chest of clothing.

Screws And Nuts

Screws and nuts are used to secure the badge to the garment. The badge will usually have holes drilled into the back to attach it to the garment with screws and nuts, ensuring that the badge stays securely on the garment.

Adhesive

Some badge accessories use adhesive to attach to clothing instead of using back clips or screws. This adhesive is usually double-sided tape or other special adhesive that can firmly stick the badge to the garment while being easy to remove without leaving traces.

Magnetic Back Holder

The magnetic back holder is a special badge accessory that is magnetic and can easily fix the badge on clothes, while also making it quick and easy to replace the badge.

Back Label

Some badges are equipped with a back label, which is usually printed with the badge's brand information, manufacturer's name or other important information to identify and certify the authenticity and origin of the badge.

Protective Layer

Some badges come with a protective layer, such as a clear plastic or resin covering, that protects the surface of the badge from scratches or damage.

Accessories

In addition to the accessories for fixing the badge, sometimes the badge is also equipped with other accessories, such as chains, hanging ropes, hooks, etc., to increase the decorative or functional use of the badge.

The above are some common badge accessories. Different types of badges may use different accessories. Depending on the use needs and scenarios, choosing the appropriate accessories can make the badge more convenient, beautiful and practical.

Badge Production Process
1 -
  • Design
The first step in making a badge is creating a design. The designer draws a preliminary badge design drawing based on the customer's requirements, design guidance and creative inspiration. At this stage, the client may provide feedback and revisions until a satisfactory design is finalized.
  • Pattern Making
Once the design is determined, the pattern maker will make an engraving or computer version based on the design drawings. These plates will be used in subsequent production processes such as casting, pressing or engraving.
  • Prototyping
Make prototype models based on plate making. Prototypes are usually made from materials such as wax or plastic to verify the feasibility and accuracy of a design.
  • Casting/Pressing
A casting or pressing process is used to create the metal base portion of the badge from a mold made from the prototype model. Casting is typically used to create metal badges, while pressing is suitable for plastic or rubber badges.
  • Painting/Coloring
Paint or color the finished metal badge. Depending on the design requirements, different colors of paint, enamel, or electroplating can be used for coloring.
  • Polishing
Polishing a painted badge to enhance its luster and texture.

  • Assembly
Assemble the various parts of the badge, including back clips, screws, magnetic backs and other accessories to fix the badge on clothing or other items.
  • Quality Inspection
Carry out quality inspection on the produced badges to ensure that their appearance, size and function meet the design requirements and customer expectations.
  • Protection And Framing
After you complete your embroidery work, you can choose to perform protective treatments, such as framing the work in a frame or adding a backing. This prolongs the preservation time of the embroidery work and maintains its original condition.
  • Packaging
Finally, the badges that pass the quality inspection are packaged to protect them from damage during transportation and storage and to facilitate customer use.
Badge Usage Scenario
Sometimes badges are also used on personalized clothing, such as T-shirts, hats, backpacks, etc.
These badges often represent the wearer's personal preferences, hobbies or special commemorations and become part of the decoration.
